About

Welcome to Greg Wood’s website

I’m a web designer at Erskine Design, and this site is an experiment. Art direction (the sort you get in magazines) has always been a bit absent on the web, and for good reason. A lot of people around the world use the internet to publish content, but only a fraction of them are actual designers. So it makes sense that most of the content on the web is being spooned into pre-designed moulds, to make publishing quick and easy. Such is the beauty of the internet; anyone can publish whatever they want without any special skills or knowledge.

However, as a designer of the internet, I have no excuse to carry on publishing content via the same old templates. Following on from industry leading peers such as Jason Santa Maria and Ryan Simms, I’m designing each individual item that I publish.

In theory, each entry will subsequently be more engaging and digestible, being designed in a way that suits the content. But I’m mostly doing this as a means of creative release. The way I see it, creativity is like a big pair of bollocks, and regular releases are required if you want to avoid an awkward situation. Also, you won’t get far on Internet Explorer 6 or 7.

About Gregorious

I’m the kind of fool who instead of going to bed at 5am after a night of heavy drinking, will tuck into some more wine, go for a leisurely beachside stroll with some curry leftovers, and slip down a steep bank, subsequently breaking his leg. I think that tells you all you need to know.
